Chamblee takes spring scrimmage 29-27 over Druid Hills
Chamblee's spring season finished successfully with a 29-27 win over Druid Hills at North DeKalb Stadium.
It was the first home spring game for Chamblee in at least four years, and the fans turned out to watch a close one. The Bulldogs jumped out to a 16-0 lead early, on two touchdowns by Renaldo Whitman and a safety by the Dog D, but Druid Hills roared back in the third quarter and took a 21-16 lead. Donovan Moncrief's long TD run put Chamblee back on top, and a 37-yard TD pass from Stuart Steele to Sydney Murray stretched the lead to 29-21.
With just 2:00 to play, Druid Hills drove for a touchdown, and set up for a 2-pt conversion to potentially tie the game. Sherman Allen, Darius Williams, and Ja'cari Waller-Watkins got great penetration to stop the Red Devil running back just short of the end zone.
Allen, one of the Chamblee captains, also forced two fumbles on the day.
